Many patients who come into our office looking for breast reduction also want to remove excess fat from their abdominal area. The combination of procedures can give you the curves and slimmer contours you’re looking for. You can completely transform how you feel about your body with breast reduction and abdominal liposuction.
Who is a Good Candidate for Abdominal Liposuction
Some of the criteria we look for in an ideal candidate for abdominal liposuction include:
- Adults who are close to their ideal weight
- Good elasticity and muscle tone
- Being in generally good health
- Have no medical condition that may affect the healing process
- Nonsmokers
- Having realistic expectations
The Procedure
Your abdominal liposuction will start with the administration of general anesthesia to ensure you’re comfortable throughout the entire procedure. Once the anesthesia has set in, we’ll make an incision along the abdomen and insert a small tube to loosen the fat. Then, with the help of suction, we’ll vacuum out the excess fat. Your incisions will then be closed, and you’ll be placed in a compression garment to help with healing and reduce possible swelling.
You will be moved to the recovery room, and then a friend or family member can take you home to rest.

Toggle To See Real Patient Results
see what you COULD look like
One of the hardest parts of getting cosmetic surgery is knowing what you’ll look like after the procedure is done. Our providers can describe the procedure and the results perfectly, but being unable to see it can make some patients apprehensive. With the Crisalix 3D Imaging software, you can actually see a visualization of your “after” pictures.
At Iowa Breast Reduction, we are proud to offer the Crisalix 3D imaging technology. This game-changing tool allows you to see your “after” before you ever schedule your procedure.
LEARN MORERecovery
Before you leave the office, your provider will give you specific instructions on how to care for your incisions and what to avoid to ensure proper healing. There will likely be some swelling, bruising, and discomfort in the treatment area, but we’ll prescribe pain medication to ensure your comfort.
You will also likely have a drain placed along the incision to help drain out any excess fluid. We’ll let you know how to care for the drains and when they can be removed.
Once you return home, you’ll want to rest for at least a few days. Most patients take at least a week off work. It will take a few more weeks before you can return to your normal activity levels and a few months before you can see your final results.
